Appointment Information

How to get appointed with Aetna:

Group: All agents must complete the appointment paperwork to become appointed.

Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement: All agents must complete the appointment paperwork in order to get appointed. AHCP will request that Aetna send an onboarding link, the agent has 60 days to complete.

How long does it take to get appointed?

Group: It takes 10-14 business days after submitting your paperwork.

Aetna Medicare Advantage: The appointment is processed by the carrier ONCE the agent has completed the carrier certification. The carrier will communicate with the agent directly on how to complete certification and when their appointment is active.

Aetna Medicare Supplement: Process is the same as Medicare Advantage, the only exception is that agents are not required to complete certification.

Adding Non-Resident Appointments

Agents should provide their non-resident license copies to AHCP with a request to add the appointment to their Aetna record. Aetna pulls license information from NIPR. The carrier will email the agent directly if a license is about to expire.

 

Aetna Quoting and Submitting New Business

How do I submit new business?

Group: Agents can submit new business via their Producer World portal.

Aetna Medicare Advantage: Agent can submit new business via their Think Agent account. This is not available until the agent is appointed and has completed annual certification.

Aetna Medicare Supplement: Agent must be appointed and have access to their https://www.aetnaseniorproducts.com/ssi/index.html portal in order to quote and enroll new clients.

 

Aetna Commission Information

Who processes commission- AHCP or the carrier?

Group commissions paid usually a week or two after the initial premium payment is applied.

Aetna Medicare Advantage commissions are paid from the carrier directly to the agent. Agent MUST ensure they completed the carrier annual certification requirements in order to be eligible for renewal commissions.

Aetna Medicare Supplement commissions are processed internally. Commission statements are stored in Comissio.

Commission Cycle

New Business Commissions (applicable to Medicare Supplement only)

Commissions are paid when a member’s premium is collected and posted by Aetna Medicare Supplement. New business commissions are processed weekly.

Earned commission cycle

Earned commission and renewals are processed once a month, the middle of the following month.
